Schindler & Rongrun Join Hands for Continuous Improvement, Creating Excellent Logistics Operations
To further enhance on-site safety, service quality, and delivery efficiency at Schindler Elevator’s Order Integration Center, the logistics department of Schindler Elevator and Rongrun Supply Chain Management Team—a subsidiary of Beyond Logistics Group—kicked off the Lean Improvement Month Initiative activity at the beginning of the new year.
Hand in Hand for Improvement · Striving for Excellence Together
Review of Improvement Activities
The Lean Improvement Month Initiative focused on three key aspects:
First, a thorough review and refinement of operational processes and work instructions. With evolving business needs, this improvement initiative reassessed logistics and warehouse-related workflows, identified gaps, and enhanced the content of work instructions to ensure all on-site operations are well-supported and clearly guided.
Second, key discussions were held on improving time windows. As time windows serve as the schedule that dictates the rhythm of warehouse operations, this session proposed multiple practical and effective measures for container shipment time windows. Examples include strengthening control over the punctuality of container pickup trucks, reducing the transition time between container trucks within the warehouse, pre-staging products for container shipments, and improving container loading efficiency. These measures aim to create a tighter and more efficient container operation rhythm.
Lastly, a problem-resolution mechanism was established. Mr. Huang, Head of Schindler Elevator’s Logistics Department, emphasized throughout the activity the importance of “raising your hand” when issues arise. Providing high-quality logistics services for Schindler Elevator’s customers is a shared goal. Timely feedback and collective problem-solving will lead to fewer issues and more stable operations. This approach of identifying and resolving problems strengthens confidence in achieving operational excellence.
Reflecting on the Past, Committing to Continuous Improvement
After the meetings, management personnel conducted on-site visits to review storage conditions, exchanged ideas on elevator component packaging issues, and established feedback channels to create opportunities for packaging optimization.
The Lean Improvement Month was a complete success. Moving forward, the Rongrun Supply Chain Management Team will train all operational staff based on the updated processes and work instructions. Daily operations will also involve strengthened communication with Schindler Elevator’s logistics department. The “raise your hand” culture will be encouraged to establish a working mechanism for identifying and resolving problems.
In the future, Schindler Elevator’s logistics department and the Rongrun Supply Chain Management Team will work together to improve domestic shipment time windows and supplier delivery time windows, further enhancing operational quality and jointly achieving excellent operations.
